Social Media Mamma Likes Chrome over Firefox for Facebook use

Chrome is quickly becoming the most efficient browser to use in my opinion. I was a lover of Firefox and now that I have discovered the BEST feature of Chrome …. spell check, I’m in love.

With all the abbreviations used in Twitter and the amount of shorthand used in Social Media added to the increased amount of posting that’s required these days my two fingers that do the typing appear more and more dyslexic. Using Chrome today I discovered it will spell check my Facebook posts! Wooo Hooo, great news for me and my readers in particular.

Google is certainly putting a lot of money and effort into updating and expanding the capabilities of Chrome and it shows. I think poor Firefox is quickly being left by the wayside just like Internet Explorer.

Now you can enjoy my Facebook posts error free on both my Social Media Mamma Page and my FIND IT For Weddings Page ( well let’s hope so :- )

Sometimes it is the smallest changes that make the biggest difference. I am now a complete Chrome convert, how about you?

5 Big Tips On How To Run A Facebook Promotion

Posted by Gaynor Parke under Uncategorized

Facebook Sweepstakes promotions

Social Media Marketing is so diverse but one thing we know, people love a giveaway. Social Media is all about interaction so what better way to get your fans to engage with you than create to a Facebook Promotion? Sweepstakes, Quizes, Discount Coupons, Surveys all sorts of promotions can be created using an array of Promtion Applications.

There are a few things to consider however before you jump on in and create your first promo.

1.  Define your objective. What is it that you want to achieve? When you know where you’re going it’s a lot easier to get there. Do you want to increase your mailing list? A large list enables you to market to people who are interested in your products.

If you’re just looking for numbers then a more general approach may be the best strategy. With a clear objective in mind it will be easier to design a promotion to meet your needs

2.  Choose the Right Promotion App that suits your needs . Here are some great questions to ask yourself

1.  Do they support photo, video, audio and text?

2. Do they have the necessary administrative tools to protect my brand?

3. Can they handle the legal aspects of a contest?

4. Does their offering have the viral and social networking features built in to make my campaign successful?

5. Can the look and feel of the contest site be customized?

6. Do I own the user data for participants in the contest?

7. Can they help me get distribution and entries into my contest?

8. What sort of metrics do they provide so I can measure my success?

9. Can they scale?

10. Have they successfully run campaigns in the past?

3.  Build it and they will come – won’t work

You need to get out there and promote your promotion! Talk about it on your Pages, create a Facebook cover image telling every one about it ( NOT on your Personal Profile however as that is against the Facebook TOS) Ask friends to help, do a Facebook Ad campaign. Add  screen capture of your promotion to Pinterest with a hotlink to the actually promotion.   Really make your promotion work for you.

4. Make it fun

Make it interesting enough that people want to share it. To go viral you have to tap into what it is that ignites your audience. Knowing what makes your followers jump up and down is how you increase your Facebook engagement overall but it is especially important when creating a successful facebook promotion campaign.

5. Measure your results.

Don’t do all this work and forget to make full use of the results of the promotion. Look at your statistics and see how you can use them to further grow your business. Feedback good or bad is great. Use positive  comments people may have left as testimonials and the bad ones will help you improve your game in the next promotion your run.

How To Recover Your Hacked Facebook Account

Posted by Gaynor Parke under Uncategorized

How To Re-claim Your Hacked Facebook Account

When using your Facebook Page to promote your business the last thing you want to happen is for it to be hacked.  Here’s what to do if your Facebook account has been hacked.

Sometimes people aren’t sure their account has been hacked so here are some suggestions on how to check if your account is still secure and what to do to recover your Hacked Facebook Account.

An indication that your account has been hacked is not being able to log in. This happens when the scammer who hacked your account changes your password. You can’t change it back because you no longer know what it is.

IF YOU CAN STILL LOG INTO YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT……

STEP ONE. If you can still log in to your Facebook account but you suspect it has been hacked, go to http://www.Facebook.com/hacked and ask Facebook to SECURE YOUR ACCOUNT

Recover your hacked Facebook Account

Step 2. After the confirmation, Facebook will lock your account and you won’t be able to use it. The good new is, the hacker won’t have access to it either. Then move on to complete the Facebook form to Unlock your Account.

IF YOU CAN’T LOG IN TO YOUR FACEBOOK ACCOUNT……

STEP ONE.   If a hacker has actually accessed your account and been able to change your password and you can’t login your account, still visit http://www.Facebook.com/hacked This time facebook will help you to regain control of your account and you’ll see the image below.

Recover your hacked Facebook Account

STEP TWO.  Facebook will ask you to enter your email address or your Facebook user name or your name and friends name to identify yourself, so that they can determine you are the rightful owner of the account.

After completing the form you can recover your hacked Facebook account.

TIP: Never share you online passwords with anyone and store them somewhere off line for extra security.

Facebook Timeline NotificationsFacebook updates are constant and the  new Facebook Timeline for Pages can take a bit of getting used to. To keep an eye on the latest posts on your Page you’ll need to look at your Page notifications. Depending on whether your Admin Panel is open or not, notifications will show up in different ways.

I like to keep the Admin Panel open so at a quick glance I can see what’s been happening since the last time I visited the Page. Above shows two views depending on whether your Admin panel is open or closed.

If you’re having trouble receiving the notifications you want try searching Facebook notifications help

Chrome integrates well with Google Plus so to my mind is very appealing.  While this cool Facebook Notifications add on allows you to peak at Facebook without having to leave your browser. You can check notifications, make a status update and more. I gave up using Explorer a long time ago and moved to Firefox now it looks like its time to shift again to Chrome at least for my Social Media.

This add on SG Plus for Chrome allows you to post to Facebook and Twitter among other things so is well worth a look.

There is certainly a case for Firefox in that it uses less memory and has lots of add ons. There is also the benefit of using more than one browser when you’re testing website updates. All have there pros and cons but sometimes it’s the smallest of features that tips the balance and entices a user to change.

Top Tips On Using Pinterest For Business

Posted by Gaynor Parke under Uncategorized

Pinterest

Pinterest is an enormously fast growing Social Media platform with nearly 11 million users. Not only is it super easy and fun to use it’s proving a great tool to drive traffic back to a blog or website.

Pinterest is an image sharing and bookmarking site where you collect images from all over the web. You’re not able to collect images off Facebook however, nor will it allow the collection of videos or images they consider too large. But apart from those few restrictions there are endless images you can collect and add to your “pin boards”.

This video will show you a number of ways in which you can optimize Pinterest to drive traffic to your blog or website.  The fact that the image retains the information of the original source link is terrific as the image may be “pined” and “re-pinned” by any number of people. These links are still “do follow”, adding a great amount of authority to links from the site, although this could change in the future.

Images can be re-pinned by anyone and added to their own collections which may in turn be re-pinned by followers of that person. There is an enormous opportunity for PINS to go viral!

The links are still “do follow”, lending a tremendous amount of authority to links from the site, although there’s speculation that the company may convert these links to “no follow” in the future

At present you do need an invitation to use Pinterest so if you would like an invitation to Pinterest to see what it’s all about, take a look at the video for details.

Have you used Pinterest yet?
